Bear Cake......mmmmm
Heather let me make Corban his Bear cake for his birthday party. I love making my grandbabies their birthday cakes but I have more fun watching how excited they get when they see them. Although, I did try to make a "grizzly bear" it ended up being a nice little "brown baby bear"!!
I hope his birthday wish comes true!!
Thanks Corban for letting me share your birthday with you. I love you "beary" much!!!
Corban's Birthday Party 8-29-09
Corban's friends helped him celebrate his birthday on Saturday. This year his party theme was "A Hunting Party"
Heather, the boys and myself started out by taking Corban to Cabela's to find party ideas and accessories! His invitations were postcards from Cabela's with bear, elk and deer on them. Heather put the party information on the back and they turned out really cute.
Next, we found camouflaged plates, cups, & napkins. Did you know that Cabela's also has camo wrapped chocolates as well as camo wrapped big chocolate candy bars? We got these to put in the kids treat bags and little camping glow sticks. Heather also found some animal tatoos and added them to the bags too. Next, I got online and discovered that you can order a deer pinata and mylar deer balloons so we got those as well.
For games we played pin the "antlers on the deer" (which each kid won playdough) and we went on a "bear hunt". A bear had stolen the treat bags and left clues along with bear tracks all around the yard for the kids to follow. Once they found their treat bags they did the pinata which filled the kids and their bags up with more candy!!! If that wasn't enough sugar they had cake and icecream bars but....... (like this but really helps) Heather had pizza & pop to balance out the sugar rush!!
In the end Corban had a great party and his friends all seemed so excited when they left with their bellies and their bags full of SUGAR!!!!
Matt & Chan: Back At The U of U!
Matt and Chan started their long drive from Pennsylvania to Utah about a week after Jonas and I. Matt wanted to spend as much time with Samantha before they both had to start school in different states. After spending the whole summer together this was a little tough on them but they know that in the end it will be worth it!!
Chan spent most of the drive on Matt's lap. He is such a good little traveler!!! It took Matt two days to drive out west as well. I guess they boys don't need as much sleep as me or their Dad when we make this drive.
When Matt got to Price he spent the night and then the next morning me, Matt, Bren and Sue went to Salt Lake to get the boys settled in for school. It is so nice to have Bren room with Matt this year and going to the U of U together. I'm sure there will be lots of fun and stories to tell years from now!!! I just hope they do their homework!!! We took the boys for a steak dinner at Diamond Lil's.............just two Moms and their little boys!! It was so nice!!
It never gets easier when you leave your kids at college but I think I am getting better at it and Sue..............well lets just say she might get a little better at saying good-bye after a few years.
It just seems like yesterday that Jonas, Matt and Bren were all playing "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" and now here they are all grown up and going to college!! Where did my little boys go?
I'm sure they are thinking how much they will miss me!!
Cross Country College Bound
Jonas decided to go back to college and at the last minute I decided to join him for the long drive back to Utah. Him and Brewster drove his truck and I drove my precious 1998 Dodge Durango which I decided I would leave out there so when I visit I could have a dependable vehicle!! I just love my Durango but since I got my new 2009 Dodge Aspen I just haven't drove my precious for awhile.
We started our trip and drove to just outside St. Louis, Missouri. I had to quit early because, well being that I am a Grandma now my eyes are just not the same for night driving. We got up early the next morning and drove the rest of the way to Price, Utah!!! A total of about 1,900 miles!! It took us about 24 hours of driving which isn't too bad considering it usually takes about 2 1/2 days!
It was so nice to drive back with Jonas and we were able to chit chat on the phone while driving. Although he will probably say I drove him crazy with the calls but deep down...........way deep down he enjoyed me calling him.............ALOT!
All was going well until we got to Limon, Colorado. That is when my rear end gave out!!!!......on my Durango! I guess she figured out that I was taking her out west to enjoy the sunsets and retirement. Poor thing, I was trying to make a life of luxury for her and she thought I was going to abandon her!
Jonas and I weren't sure what was wrong so Jonas being the brave son, drove my Durango from Denver Colorado to Price. I was scared to death because I wasn't sure if it was my brakes or what so, I said ALOT of prayers (especially going over Veil and through Glenwood Canyon) and we made it safe!! We did get the Durango fixed and the good news is...............she loves the west and can't wait for me to visit!!
Jonas got settled in and has started school. I know he misses me.............LOTS!!!!! Don't worry Jonas, I will be out to visit lots and lots and lots........!!!
I miss having the kids home but I am so proud of the choices that they have made and only wish them success!!!!!!
Brewster let Jonas do all the driving!
Who will get the last piece of pizza, Jonas or Brewster?
Brewster has to share his bed with Jonas!
Glenwood Canyon
This canyon is so beautiful! I love going through this canyon during the day!
This is one of the pretttiest canyons in Colorado!

This is pretty much the view I saw for 2 long........very long days!! I was able to keep up with Jonas and I am proud to say..............No speeding tickets were given during these two days!

Happy Birthday Mom
Today is my Mom's birthday!! Yeah, she is 69 years young!! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful Mother!! My Mom has always been my greatest friend, my hero, a great example to follow and so much more!! I remember as I was growing up my Mom was always the coolest Mom on the block!! She always made everything special for me even if it was learning to play softball, listening to music (which she was always up on the latest songs), dating boys, going to dances, mutual ......... I could go on forever. She always made our house a home for my friends and they even called her Mom. She has always been so easy to talk to and there were many times when she would just listen and let me cry and then give me the best advice on how to solve many problems! I remember her coaching our softball team to state champions, doing roadshows and dances and even taking me and my friends to "The White Lady"!!
As I have grown up I have realized even more the things my Mom has done for me. She taught me how to be a Mom and I realize the sacrifices that she has made for me throughout my entire life! I only hope that I can be as great of a Mother, wife, Grandmother, sister and friend as she is!
Happy Birthday Mom!! I love you and appreciate all the many things you do for me and my family!! You are truly the best Mother ever!!!!

Craft Day
Last night I got a phone call from Corban asking me if he could come over to my house tomorrow and make a "raft" (craft) because Jayce had to get "shot" and he didn't want to go to the Doctors with him. So, I said yes I would love to do a craft and I would see him tomorrow.
This morning Corban runs through my door and hollers "come on Ramma.........lets do a raft" I said "ok lets go do a raft". Corban stops in his tracks and says matter of factly "Ramma I said a raft not a raft"!! Silly me ..........so I said "sorry lets go do a craft".
After we made a puppy dog craft we put puzzles together, played the hunting game, watched a little of the hunting channel and read Shark & Dinosaur books. It was getting close to lunch time so I asked him if he was hungry. I told him I would make him PB&J, grilled cheese sandwich, soup, mac & cheese whatever he wanted. His reply......."Chocolate!". I told him after lunch he could have some chocolate but he had to eat first "Grandma's rules". His reply........."Corban's rules are eat chocolate first then lunch", to which I replied "Grandma's house.........Grandma's rules", to which he said "I like Corban's rules better!" He cracks me up!!!!
Thanks Corban for coming to my house today and making a "raft" with me and making me laugh!! I love you my little Buckaroo!!

Jayce turned 1 year old August 8, 2009!!! He had fun opening his gifts and he loved each one of them!! He got a drum that teaches him the ABC's in english and spanish from Uncle Jonas. Some really cute clothes from Uncle Matt and Aunt Sam and Grandma & Grandpa gave him a Mickey Mouse airplane that makes all sorts of noises and some books (they also make noise) and some clothes. His Mom and Dad and big brother Corban gave him a learning center (yes it makes noise too) and a truck, some clothes, books...........I lost track because he was really raking in the gifts!! He loved opening them up and just wanted to play with each one. He was so cute and fun!!!

Cake bake
Moose on the loose!
We went to Cabela's the other day which the boys always love!! I'm not sure if everyone knows but Corban is obsessed with hunting and he has "shot" every animal in Cabela's!! He has been to Africa, Canada, Utah, Colorado and all the other great hunting places in between hunting. While showing me all the animals he has shot I noticed that he had to go potty.........so off to the potty we went. After he pottyed I said "let's wash your hands" which he replied "Ramma, you should always wash both hands not just one...........they both have yuckies on them"! It's a good thing he teaches me about all this stuff because I never knew!!! I just love this little guy!!
Day Out
Jayce "drives" a car
Jayce needs to add more money for another drive around the track
Corban gets ready to shoot a big Elk

The other day me and Heather took the boys to Corban's favorite place "Pizza Hut in Uniontown"! He loves going here because of the hunting game which he plays very well! He shoots deer, elk, turkey, squirrels, ducks, targets........... He wants a game just like this in his room but his Mom & Dad won't buy it for him!! Maybe he can talk Grandpa Hyita into buying it for him :) !
